Make-Up Bag Top 5 (Most Loved & Used Products)

Ok, everyone has those certain items that have graced their makeup bag for years - the same items that cause you to turn to VIB status at Sephora and cause you your sanity when you think you forgot your makeup bag when going away for the weekend. You know the ones. These are my top 5:

1. bareMinerals Original Foundation in Fairly Light - I kid you not, I have been buying this foundation since I first start using make-up. When I was ready to take the make-up dive (well ok, when my mom was ready - if I had it my way I would have been wearing makeup at the age of 6) my mom introduced me to what she used - bareMinerals. I've tested the water and tried other foundations but this is truly the only one that covers without looking like you are wearing makeup! It's light and you don't feel like you are wearing foundation - and it is sheer enough that you can see freckles, but does even out your face and skin tone. I was skeptical but it does last me all day through! It also has SPF 15 so in the summer you have added protection without even thinking about it!

2. bareMinerals All Over Face Color in Warmth - This, again, has been a staple in my makeup bag forever. It is a loose powder that I consider a bronzer and allows you to totally control the amount of color you want. In summer, this baby gets a lot more use. In winter, I get a little on my all over face brush and lightly tap and just dust it over the bridge of my nose and cheekbones. It isn't orangey, and there is no shimmer so it looks totally natural and gives you a nice little glow.

3. bareMinerals Correcting Concealer in Light 1 - Under all the above mentioned foundation and bronzer, sometimes a gal needs a little concealer. This stuff works like a charm. I apply with a brush (I use a #47 Sephora Brush) and use under my eyes or on any other spots that need a little extra cover. It's not too heavy, and you only need a little bit to cover imperfections. I did take a little teensy break from this concealer and started using a concealer from Makeup Forever but it was too heavy for my skin and looked a little cakey so I ended up switching back.

4. Buxom Mascara in Blackest Black - This is THE BEST mascara I've ever used. If I was ranking products on this list, this would be my #1. Like most of you, I have tried countless mascaras. My 2 main concerns are the brush and the wear-off of the mascara. For example, some mascaras are halfway down my face by lunchtime...not cool. Buxom stays put and legitimately makes my eyelashes look longer and fuller. I have recommended this mascara to everyone I know and since I started using it have gotten tons of compliments. Seriously if you are going to be at Sephora any time soon - it is worth the investment! One tube should last several months - and it's 19 bucks. I forgot to mention that this comes in Waterproof, too. I prefer the regular version, but Waterproof is great for the summer months!

5. NARS Blush in Gaiety - At first glance you guys are going to freak out and wonder who could actually use this color. Well, a good friend of mine introduced me to this blush in college (thanks Linds!) and I've never gone back. I actually apply this with a kabuki brush from Sephora but a light stroke of any brush should do the trick. It brightens up your whole face and unless you go crazy I swear you won't look like Barbie. I wear this blush DAILY! (As you can see in the pic, I barely have any left!) So if you've ever seen me, chances are, I'm wearing it, and unless no one has told me, I think it's pretty subtle.

That rounds out my top 5! I'll do a post on some other make-up favorites soon, but these are truly my top 5 most loved/most used makeup products.

What products do you all swear by? Tell me below and tell me if use any of my favs, too!

Happy Saturday friends!

XO

  3. Than you for the tips... Definitely going to try the mascara. I need a need one! So tired of the ones that run. :) I'm so bummed that Victoria Secret has discontinued their make up line, I loved it. That's what I would have recommended.
