What's In My Bag!

Monday, April 27, 2015

It's Monday and I thought I'd give you all a little glimpse into what I throw in my purse. Trust me, this is only what's in my little purse, if I showed you what's in my tote, we'd be here for hours.
  1. Lip Care Products - Palmer's Cocoa Butter is always in my purse/bag of the day. If it's not, something has seriously gone wrong and you should ask me if I'm okay. I also have my Fresh Sugar Lip color in Honey because currently my lips are so chapped from being sick that it looks like I am wearing lipstick and this Fresh Honey color helps me tone the redness down!
  2. Hand Sanitizer - I cannot stress enough, I have major germ phobia in some instances. Sometimes, it doesn't bother me at all, but certain things really freak me out. I have my Honest Hand Sanitizer Spray in my purse & car, always. The bottle is small enough to fit in your purse (this fits nicely in my Rebecca Minkoff crossbody pictured on Instagram) and in the small compartment in your car. I made the switch to Honest products a little over a year ago as an alternative to chemical rich, hard on the skin products. I am actually putting together a post on why I did an overhaul of the products I use at home and why Honest products aren't just for Mom's!
  3. Powder - I bring along my Make-Up For Ever HD Powder because it's small, and I can dab a little on my fingers and swipe over any areas on my face that need a little help (hello...T-Zone!)
  4. Rebecca Minkoff Card Case - I rarely use my big wallet anymore. I got this card case about a year ago and it is really my daily go to for carrying cards and ID. It's easy and quick and you can see what you need right away. I leave my wallet for carrying gift cards, insurance cards, and anything extra.
  5. Odds & Ends - I told you, I literally spilled my bag for you! I had some loose change (which is actually pretty rare, I never have change for meters when Kyle and I need it and he always looks at me like 'how do you not have any change in that purse?!'), a stick of gum, and some clear hair ties and bobby pins (you never know when you'll want to try a new braid! or take one out...)
That's about it for what's in my bag, gals!

Did anyone get the chance to shop the Rebecca Minkoff Semi-Annual Sale this weekend? I hope everyone has a great week...!

So You Got Engaged - 3 Things I Learned!

Friday, April 10, 2015

The 3 Most Important Things I Learned in the first 6 Months of being Engaged!

1. Every Bride Goes At Her Own Pace– YES, even you. I know, I know, the moment you get engaged, people are already asking you what the date is. I kid you not, the day we got engaged, some excited folks were saying “So, when’s the date?” before I had even told my family I was getting married. DO NOT PANIC. THEY ARE JUST EXCITED. If you’re like me, you panic anyway (duh), and immediately start realizing some venues are booked (dun dun dun) over a YEAR in advance!!! We went to a couple venues and each time left with “So, we need to know, like, now. Because we have 4 more appointments today and September is a popular month” Oh.  Do not fret, my brides to be, there is a venue for you out there. Honestly, go at your own pace. Don’t pick a venue just because you are worried your date might get snatched up by someone else. Pick a venue because you LOVE it, and because you can see yourself getting married there, and make sure it is a realistic option for you. As for the rest of the planning, go at your own pace, too! If you get overwhelmed, then…

2. MAKE A LIST! And don’t freak out if you don’t stick to it!  One of my girlfriends gave me a planner the week after we got engaged. I think she got it on Etsy. It was a simple, month by month guide to what you (generally) should have done in the timeframe. The list was really a lifesaver because it listed things I never even thought of. What I did was take the list & made my own. I got a planner from Erin Condren from coworkers (which I am OBSESSED with), and penciled in the items from the list on the months I could realistically see myself getting it done. If you think of things in the middle of the day, jot it on a post-it, and stick it in your planner to organize later. I currently have post its that say “wooden mr. and mrs. sign”, and “hanging greenery” stuck to the front flap in my planner. Might not make sense to you, but I know what I mean, and this way, I won’t forget. Do not rely on your mind to remember the 8 gazillion things you have to do.

3. You Can’t Please Everyone – so stop trying. Really, you can’t. Lucky for me, everyone is pretty much telling me to do whatever I want. I’m a lucky bride! You want to wear 2 dresses & everyone says “who are you, Kim Kardashian?” (not that that happened to me or anything), wear 2 dresses anyway. Do what makes YOU happy and do your best to make sure you aren’t constantly worried what everyone will think. Remember, this is the one day in your life that is about YOU (oh, and the groom, I guess…JK Ky!) and you should not be worried about anything other than having a beautiful, happy day that represents your relationship and love and start of a new chapter. The people whose opinions you truly care about really want that for you. Trust me. It’s hard when you have opinions coming from every angle – but really, everyone just wants you to be HAPPY. They are only giving input because they want you to have everything you want. Listen to them, and tell them that you are thankful for their input, but if you don’t like it, don’t do it!

I hope this has helped some of you stressed out brides.

Coming into the last 5 months of being engaged I am going to post a lot more about wedding planning!

Here's some photos of me and my honey:

Gold Details

Saturday, April 4, 2015

Seriously, who doesn't love gold jewelry right now? Now that I have my fancy shmancy engagement ring and it has a gold band, I especially love to accent it with gold rings and bracelets.

Details from photos:

X Midi Ring - Francesca's Collections (totally random! Randomly walked in to a new store opening of theirs, and they had tons of cute little gold rings in the front dish- also I didn't even know they had a website until this very second...get the exact ring here.)

Turquoise and Gold Ring - Hello Fab (uh the CUTEST ring! I got it as a surprise from my gal Jenna Wood of Hello Fab and haven't taken it off since) hello fab

(Dream Collection) White Turquoise Bangle - Bracha (they make the most beautiful jewelry and an entire 20% of proceeds go to support the A21 campaign. Beautiful jewelry + supporting a great cause = win!) White Turquoise Cuff

Gold Rope Bracelet - Anthropologie (from about a year ago but plenty that are similar!)

Gold Stretch Bracelet - Bauble Bar (similar styles but not exact on their site now, similar here - Bauble Bar is great because it stays right on top of trends and there's good, frequent sales!)

Clutch  - My absolute favorite clutch from one of my favorite shops, Nena & Co, from one of my best gals! Does it get much better?

So my go-to places for jewelry are really BaubleBar, Etsy, and really I will go for anything that catches my eye - doesn't matter what brand to me! I came across Bracha & I am super in love with all of their jewelry, it's unique and current, I seriously want every piece...and my birthday is coming up, soo, don't make me tell you twice... hehe check em' out --> BRACHA

Xoxo!! Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!
